Hello Bruno, tell us a little bit more about yourself. Who are you, where are you from and which club are you member of?

My name is Bruno Vermeire, I’m 54 years old and living in Antwerp, on the left side of the river Scheldt, in a fairly green environment. My home club is Golfclub Beveren. They have a very beautiful 9-holes inland links course, in the middle of the port area. It is a very unique location for a golf club.

What do you do in your day-to-day life?

I work as an Area Sales Manager for an American company, named Crane. I’m responsible for the sales in Flanders. My biggest customers are situated at the port of Antwerp, more specifically, in chemistry.

For how long have you been playing golf and what’s your current handicap?

When I was 18 years old, I took some golf lessons at Drie Eycken Golf. I started playing golf for real, more than 20 years ago, in 1997. My current handicap is 18,8.

What do you like most about golf?

I especially love golf because of the mental aspect. You are constantly fighting with yourself. The silence on a golf course always brings me at rest and I also enjoy the beauty of nature while playing golf.

What was your most beautiful golf experience or course that you played at?

My most beautiful golf experience was in 2014. In May that year, I played the 2010 Golf Course at the Celtic Manor during a golf vacation in Wales.

How did you end up with BKO and why did you want to cooperate?

By a call for volunteers on the website of Golf Vlaanderen. It had always been my dream to be a volunteer at a golf match in the European Tour.

Who is your favourite player and why?

My favorite player always used to be Bernhard Langer, because of his serenity and appearance. I have also been a big fan of Nicolas Colsaerts for a long time.

What are you looking forward to the most during the event?

To see great shots and hopefully a hole-in-one on the 15th hole, hosted by our golf club.

What makes BKO unique, according to you?

First of all, the unique formula. The first two days will be as usual at the European tour. From day three on, it will be a real battle. Stroke play over nine holes, with two players, so it has a bit of match play as well. So exciting!

Why should everybody go to BKO?

After 18 years of absence, the European Tour is back in Belgium. This means a lot for golf in Belgium. I can not imagine better advertising for golf. It’s also a unique opportunity for non-golfing people to learn more about the sport.

The organization for volunteers for the Belgian Knockout is organized and coordinated by Golf Vlaanderen, in close liaison with Rinkven International Golf Club & PietersProductions. Besides the organization for volunteers, Golf Vlaanderen will commit to the promotion of the Belgian Knockout, to enthuse as many non-golfers as possible, for golf and the event.
