Hello Nienke, tell us a little bit more about yourself. Who are you, where are you from and which club are you member of?

My name is Nienke Vink and I’m 38 years old. I was born in The Netherlands, but Belgium has been my home for 17 years now. My home club is Lilse Golf & Country in Lille.

What do you do in your day-to-day life?

I’m the owner/manager of Lilse Golf & Country.

For how long have you been playing golf and what’s your current handicap?

I’ve played golf for 11 years and my current handicap is 17.9.

What do you like most about golf?

Golf is not a sport – golf is a way of life. Live it, love it.

What is your most beautiful golf experience or course that you played at?

That was a recent experience; in November, in Cape Verde, on the island Sao Vicente, I played golf on greens of tar. It was a unique golf experience. Because the 9 holes golf course doesn’t have any grass at all, it’s great to see how much the golf players are enjoying the beautiful sport over there!

How did you end up with BKO and why did you want to cooperate?

The golf club was asked to send some volunteers to this unique golf event. Many members of Lilse Golf are often playing at different (bigger) golf courses and Rinkven is one of the favourites – especially after the beautiful transformation the club made. Thus, the choice of deciding whether to participate, was an easy one to make. I’m proud of our small 9 holes golf club, providing 25 enthusiastic volunteers that will play an important role at hole 1 at the BKO.

Who is your favourite player and why?

Of course, I’m hoping Thomas Pieters will win, but on the other hand, as I’m Dutch, I will admit that I will be supporting Joost Luiten as well.

What are you looking forward to the most during the event?

To be part of the golf event on Belgian soil, along with co captains Chris Swiers and Frederik van Hove.

What makes BKO unique, according to you?

At the gathering of all the hole captains, we had at Rinkven, a while ago, we could sense the unstrained character of this event. It’s initiated in a very professional way, out of love and passion for the sport. In addition; the unique formula.

Why should everybody go to BKO?

For love of the game….

The organization for volunteers for the Belgian Knockout is organized and coordinated by Golf Vlaanderen, in close liaison with Rinkven International Golf Club & PietersProductions. Besides the organization for volunteers, Golf Vlaanderen will commit to the promotion of the Belgian Knockout, to enthuse as many non-golfers as possible, for golf and the event.
